Frequently Asked Questions
Is your coffee roasted regularly?
We roast the highest volume coffees in small batches every week, and the most exclusive coffees every two weeks. Each package includes the roasting date.
What is the roasting profile of your coffee?
We primarily work with light and medium roasts , designed to be easy to drink, balanced, and versatile. We don't use dark roasts because they mask the sensory characteristics of the origin and diminish the flavour.
How unique is your coffee?
All batches are of single origin and traceable. Most come in limited quantities, often in 60kg to 240Kg bags.
What countries is your coffee from?
It depends on the season. We generally work with coffees from Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Nicaragua and El Salvador.
What is specialty coffee?
It is coffee of the highest quality, evaluated by certified tasters (Q-Graders) with scores above 80 points , produced with rigorous control from harvesting to roasting. It has a cleaner, more complex and traceable flavour.
What is the difference between specialty coffee and commercial coffee?
Commercial coffee is mass-produced for supermarket shelves, prioritizing only low prices. Generic blends, mainly Robusta, often from unknown origins, are harvested without criteria (including green and defective beans), and roasted until burnt to disguise the low quality. The result is a bitter, flat, and unnuanced beverage.
Specialty coffee is the opposite: traceable origin, selective harvesting of ripe beans, a minimum score of 80 points, and careful roasting that enhances, not destroys, the natural characteristics of each batch.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship to most EU countries. For shipments outside the EU, please contact: pro@casetacoffee.com
How long does it take to receive the order?
In mainland Portugal: 1-3 business days
Peninsular Spain: 3-5 business days
Azores and Madeira archipelagos: 3–7 business days
EU: 4–8 business days (depending on the country)
How should I store coffee to keep it fresh?
Keep the packaging properly closed using the zipper. Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
What is the difference between whole bean coffee and ground coffee?
Whole beans retain their freshness for much longer. Ground coffee loses its aroma more quickly and should be consumed within a few weeks. Whenever possible, we recommend whole bean coffee.
How long does coffee last after it's opened?
It depends on the roasting and storage, but ideally it should be consumed within 3 months of roasting to maintain flavour and aroma, although the legal shelf life is even longer.
What does the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) score mean?
This is the scale used by certified technicians (Q-Graders) to evaluate coffees from 0 to 100. Above 80 points is considered "specialty". It measures attributes such as sweetness, clarity, acidity, and balance.
What extraction methods do you recommend for each type of coffee?
For fruitier coffees → V60, Kalita, Chemex, Aeropress or Filter Machine
For sweeter, chocolatey coffees → Espresso or Moka
We always provide specific recommendations on each café's page.
Can I use your coffee in capsule machines?
Coffee can be ground for refillable capsules, but the result depends heavily on the capsule used. We do not sell pre-ground capsules.
Where is your roasting facility located?
Lisbon, with Caseta's headquarters in Charneca da Caparica.
Do you provide coffee for restaurants and offices?
Yes. We create solutions for coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and businesses, with technical support and coffee selection.
